Dermatology – Skin of Colour

People with skin of colour are under-represented in dermatology literature, both online and in textbooks. This has led to misdiagnosis and delayed treatment for people with darker skin tones. It’s time we upped our game.
Speaker: Dr Catherine Fernando
Dr Catherine Fernando graduated from Aberdeen Medical School in 2001. She completed MRCP before choosing a career in General Practice. Catherine has been a GP for 18 years. She loves her role as a salaried GP in East Lothian where she specialises in dermatology. Catherine was awarded a distinction for the Cardiff Diploma in Practical Dermatology in 2022 and is passionate about improving dermatology education in primary care. She is also a great advocate of dermoscopy for primary healthcare clinicians. She is a regular speaker on topics in Dermatology at national level.
